Fit For Life

These classes are run twice daily on Tuesdays and Thursdays and also on Monday Friday and Saturday mornings.  These classes are designed to provide a vigorous workout in a safe, non-threatening environment. Similar to the pool programs, the classes aim to provide strength, flexibility and cardiovascular fitness.

They provide an all round fitness program that is suitable for weight loss; diabetic clients; clients at risk of developing cardiac problems; or those just looking to improve their general fitness.

  

Osteoporosis

Twice a week, classes are run specifically to address osteoporosis. The format consists of individualised programs with an emphasis placed on weight bearing exercise, postural exercises, strengthening of large muscle groups and provision of advice concerning the management of osteoporosis. While there is an educational component within these classes for clients with osteoporosis.  Balance training is a vital part of these classes to aid in falls prevention. 

Core Stability (incorproated in the Supervised Gym Classes) 

Current research has shown encouraging results concerning the management of chronic back pain with core stability exercises and explains the success of programs such as Pilates. Based on Pilates’ principles, this class educates clients on the role of postural stabilisers and aims to strengthen the muscles in a variety of positions. By running a mat and ball-based class, clients will be able to continue the exercises in their home environment. The class is suitable for clients with chronic back and neck pain; chronic generalised stiffness; post-back surgery; hypermobility; and poor posture.

Supervised Gym Classes

These classes are run 3 times per weekand incorporate individual core stability programs and individual strength training programs.  Each participant will be provided with an individual program specific to themselves and carry the program out under the close supervision of a physiotherapist.  Clients range from total hip replacements to discectomies and complete specific, individualised programs to aid in their recovery back to full function.
