Trere Barber - Therapeutic Massage

Trere Barber was pleased to join The Kalamunda Physiotherapy team in February of 2009. Trere is a remedial Therapist, and is working in the clinic on Monday and Tuesday mornings and Wednesday afternoons. Remedial therapy employs a wide range of techniques with the aim of establishing and maintaining wellbeing. The techniques Trere has been trained in include: Deep tissue massage, Trigger point therapy, Myofascial release, Sports massage, Relaxation massage, Pregnancy massage, Craniosacral therapy, Reflexology, Manual lymph drainage, Acupressure, Shiatsu, Fascial kinetics (Bowen), PNF stretching, and more.

A treatment session involves an initial consultation, during which the client is assessed and a suitable treatment program is negotiated. The treatment usually consists of a combination of the above techniques and is specifically tailored to the client’s needs and desires. The first sessions takes approximately one and a quarter hours, to allow for the consultation, and a full hours treatment. There is a flat rate of $70 for the hour, and rebates are available from most private health providers, but, please check beforehand to be sure you are covered.

Trere began her training in body work, whilst at high school, she then completed a Bachelor of Science degree with a double major in Physiology and Pharmacology, giving  her a comprehensive understanding of the human body, and a sound basis for body work. After university, Trere did further study in Swedish massage. With these skills in hand, Trere then traveled the world, working and continuing to gain skills in massage in some wonderful places such as Salt Spring Island in Canada, Fairbanks in Alaska, several places in Ireland, including Dublin and Cork, and throughout Europe, UK and even Mauritius.

On returning to Perth, Trere bought a home in the hills, and did some further study at The Perth Academy of Natural Therapies, completing a Diploma of Remedial Therapies in 2001. Having completed her Diploma, and being recognized for her previous studies in Swedish massage end experience, Trere was approached to supervise and run the Swedish massage Clinic at the Academy. Taking on this position, Trere then took on the position of Remedial clinic supervisor and manager. Not long after that Trere was offered a position as a lecturer at the Academy. Trere worked at the academy for about seven years until her pregnancy in 2007.

At the same time as taking on the position at the academy, Trere set up her own clinic in the then Kalamunda Gym, and after being there for over 2 years an opportunity arose to join Kalamunda Chiropractic. Two and a half years later a change of premises was in order, and a new clinic was set up in Kalamunda, where Trere worked happily for several years. Which leads up to the move to Kalamunda Physiotherapy in order to free up some more time to spend with her new son, and the opportunity to work with other professionals and share knowledge and experience. As well as working at Kalamunda Physiotherapy, Trere has a new lecturing position at Paramount college and looks to sharing her time between the two positions.
